Prayers for Starting and Breaking the Fast
1. Prayer for Starting the Fast (Sehri/Suhoor)
Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri Ramadan.
"I intend to fast tomorrow in the holy month of Ramadan."
2. Prayer for Breaking the Fast (Iftar)
Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa alayka tawakkaltu wa ala rizq-ika-aftartu.
"O Allah! I fasted for You, I believe in You, I rely on You, and with Your sustenance, I break my fast."
Three Ashra of Ramadan
Ramadan is divided into three 10-day phases (Ashra) focusing on Mercy, Forgiveness, and Salvation.
First 10 Days (Mercy)
Ashra 1
Rab-bigh-fir war-ham wa Anta Khair-ur-Raahimeen
My Lord, forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of Merciful.
Middle 10 Days (Forgiveness)
Ashra 2
Astaghfirullah rabbi min kulli dhanbin wa atubu ilayh
I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, from every sin and I turn to Him.
Last 10 Days (Salvation)
Ashra 3
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni
O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me.
